Providence Loses Its Top Youth, but Gains A Coach

picture of BrandonThe Providence Senate Junior Program plans to retired the jersey of its most talented junior bowler ever in the seven year history of our existence. Brandon "Too Smooth" Medina, who is no longer eligible to bowl in our junior program in the future due to age requirements, will now volunteer his time each week as a coach. "Brandon is headed into the adult bowling leagues as our most prepared junior bowler to date," says Coach Marty. He has been a part of the senate family since our very first season back in 1999-00. He has won the league high average award every season except for once (our second season). He was the first senate junior bowler to (1) average over 200 for an entire season, and (2) bowl a 700 series.

Brandon also became our first junior bowler to win the Ocean State Pepsi-Cola Tournament in the scratch division back in 2001-02 when it was still sponsored by Cocoa-Cola. picture of Brandon as Coach BHe is the only senate junior bowler to become a certified USA Level 1 Coach while still bowling as a youth in the program. And unlike those before him that graduated, he returned to the program and gave back as a token of his appreciation. He now is officially known as Coach "B" and he also is the Head Coach of our talented Travel Team.

Brandon leaves our program as our All-Time Leading Scorer in senate history with 113,186 total pin fall in league play. The next closest bowler over our first seven years is Justin Scott-Jones, who has 93,486 total pins. Brandon was so dominate over the years that we attributed his final season with a silhouette logo of him (see above) on our league bowling shirts.

Brandon, we will definitely miss you. You had a great, great career here at senate (297 game & 773 series - career highs)! Good luck to you in the adult leagues and hopefully you will one day bowl your first perfect game.
