Providence Senate 4th Annual
Tournament

On July 26, August 3, 4, 10
and 11, the Providence Senate Junior Program held its 4th Annual
Youth Tournament for awards and book stipends. The event was held
at AMF Lang's Lanes in Cranston, RI and bowlers from Massachusetts,
Connecticut and Rhode Island participated in the event.
This was a Doubles Event with
an optional Singles and the bowlers had a choice of either handicap
or scratch divisions. A book stipend was awarded to the top female
and male (college-bound) athlete based on a percentage of the entries
obtained. This year's winners were Deanna Outland, of Providence
and Rai Doblmeier, of Warwick, who both earned $100 each
towards their college education.
For the tournament itself, Danny
Khuu (picture above with Coach Marty), of Brockton, was our
biggest winner taking home 1st place in both Doubles and Singles
(Scratch). Khuu and his partner placed 3rd in the Handicap Doubles
portion of the event with a score of 1411.
In the Handicap Division, Cre'shon
Morrison & Akeem Campbell, both of Hartford, took
1st place with an impressive total of 1443. Our winner in the Handicap
Singles Event was Chris Miceli, of Westerly, who bowled an
amazing 772. Providence Senate would like to thank AMF Lang's and
its staff for hosting the event, especially Manager Shawn Fitzpatrick.
We look forward to next year. All awards will be sent out to the
winners by the end of September.

Coach Marty Directs His First
TNBA Eastern Regional Tour
On March 8-9, 2008, the National Bowling
Association, Inc. (TNBA) Eastern Regional Junior Championship Tour
took place under the NEW Tournament Direction of Mr. Marty Jones
from Rhode Island, and despite a few minor oversights, the event
was a huge success. Our biggest winners were Delaware, Maryland
and Pennsylvania with CBBS's (King's Point #3) capturing the Class
One crown and advancing to the Anthony J. Roberts National Junior
Roll-offs in Reno, Nevada. The team members were Joshua Chase,
Robert Salm, Tanner Laughman and Drew Spriggs, who totaled
2708 with handicap. In Class Two, our winners were Jeffrey Major,
Everett Hunt, Herbie Brown and Diante Fields of Delaware
with a 2631 score. The Class Three winners were CBBS (King's Point
#6) - William Boykin III, Coby Laughman, Zachary Dudley and
Darius Snowden, and they posted a score of 2374. Philadelphia
took the Class Four title with a 2057. The team members were Brandon
Jenkins, Michael Pavlovcak, Kyrell Little and Quincy Turner.
The Class Five champions were from Delaware (Marjani Griggs,
Tiffany Ince, Kyree Scotton and Nathan Banks), and they
shot a 1565 handicap series.
There
were many great individual performances over the weekend, but none
more memorable than bowling sensation Diante Fields (picture
left), age 13, of Delaware Senate, who had a remarkable weekend.
In the team event, Diante posted a 300-240-247 for a 787 series.
He returned the next day for the doubles event and shot games of
261-268-234 for a 763 series. That comes out to a 258 per game AVERAGE.
Did I mention that he is only thirteen years old? Whoa!
Special thanks to Carolier Lanes and
staff for such an outstanding job hosting the ERJCT. Shout-outs
to Ms. Veronica Green, who assisted me throughout the weekend
with the event. Finally, thank you to all the coaches and parents
for their support during the event. I look forward to this upcoming
ERJCT, and seeing you all back once again for another successful
event. To learn more about TNBA or to view the 2008 results online,

Rembert, Frankie & Vincent Borowy, Chris Moseley, Justin, Jadee
and Jalen Scott-Jones) competed in the Northeast Junior Scratch

at the event, as the NeJST had a turnout of 64 participants. Unfortunately,
only six of our 13 athletes advanced to the stepladder round. Three

only 1st place winner. Justin finished in 5th place (College Division).
Jadee (2nd place) and Nicole (4th place) were our only girls that
advanced. Lastly, Vincent took 5th place in the Junior Division.
Congratulations to Rai Doblmeier for also earning his fifth qualification
into the 2009 Junior Gold Tour this coming July in Indiana. Rai
finished in the top 150 at the 2008 Junior Gold Tour, and expects
to do even better this time around. He has now qualified for Junior
Gold "five times", which is the most for any bowler from
RI.
Senate Represents at NeJST in Cranston (RI)

On November 16th, Team Senate (David Lewis, Matt
Peter, Deanna Outland, Nicole Trudell, Tori Whetstone, Qwadaris
Rembert, Thomas Morrison, Vincent Borowy, Justin, Jadee and Jalen

AMF Cranston Lanes in RI. Of our eleven-team members that participated,
nine advanced to the stepladder round with Senate capturing four
medals. Our lone Gold Medal winner was Jalen, who was the highest
qualifier for the entire event with a 1326 (six-game total). Jalen
captured 1st place in the Major Division, while Matt finished in
5th. In the College Division, Justin finished in 4th place. Qwadaris

impressive 1451 total for six games (with a high game of 277). Khuu

the girls ages 12 to 21 in ONE division. "This division is
very challenging and the competition is great", says Jadee
Scott-Jones. Although Jones lost to Trudell in the stepladder after
beating two other girls prior, she enjoys this new division. Trudell
bowled impressive and in the finals, she was victorious over Alley
Keisman, of MA (210-170). The Senate also likes to recognize
Chris Moseley, who won the Strike Jackpot at the competition and
earned some scholarship money.

of the team finished in the top-5 for their respective divisions,
but only Qwadaris managed to capture a Gold Medal. Qwadaris bowled
awesome in his rookie debut and posted an impressive 192-133 victory
over top seed Nicholas Sauve, of Massachusetts, in the finals. The
event was held on a challenging modified house shot at AMF Lang's
Lanes in Cranston, RI.
In the all new Girls Open Division,
which features girls ages 12 to 21, the Senate had four girls finish

Senate Sends Heavy Hitters to JBT

On November 1st, five members of Team Senate traveled to Bradley
Bowl in Windsor Locks, CT to compete in the Junior Bowlers Tour
for scholarships and awards. Representing Senate at this event were
Nicole Trudell, Rai Doblmeier (picture right above), David
Lewis, Jalen Scott-Jones (picture left above) and Danny Khuu.
As stated earlier in the season, Team Senate plans to make more
appearances at the JBT's this year and likes its chances of success
in the New England Conference. Four of our five athletes advanced
to the second round, and two made it to the stepladder finals. Jalen,
the fifth seed, climbed the entire ladder before losing in the finals
to Alex Welgarz of New York. Prior to the finals, we had an old
fashion Senate brawl with Jalen and Rai squaring off for chance
to make it to the finals. Both Rai and Jalen put displayed some
clutch bowling and it was an awesome match to watch. However, Rai
got the short end of the stick losing 248-254 for a third place
finish. Jalen, unfortunately lost in the finals, finishing in 2nd
place at the event.
